Late night chat

At 4:00 am this morning:

Does that include your tip?

No sir, it does not.

So you're telling me it doesn't include the tip?

That's correct, Todd.

I need to tip you then?

Only if you think my service merits it.

Oh. Yes. You're right. Here's fifty bucks. Are we good?

Thank you very much, that's very generous.

I'd like to see the server's reaction to a 3.5% tip next time he sups in a restaurant.

y'all have probably mentioned this before, sugar, but why isn't some sort of automatic gratuity included in the bill or just included in the upfront cost? i can't imagine anyone thinking 3.5% of a total was enough! xoxoxox

Nah, I avoid the tipping issue, Sugar. In short, the problem is this: When folks book a ride, The Boss says to people that the tip is included. It helps to close the sale.

The above conversation is the result of the misdirection, but a lot of folks understand the way it really works. For the rest, you just have to pipe up and say that the tip is NOT included. Hopefully alcohol and goodwill and my excellent service make the difference.
